This article explains how GST applies to LanClub services and what to expect if our GST status changes in the future.
Current GST Status
Lan Club Limited is not currently registered for GST. This means:
- No GST is charged on any LanClub invoices
- All prices quoted are the amount you pay — there is no GST to add on top
- Your invoices will show GST: $0.00 or No GST applicable
What is GST?
GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a 15% tax applied to most goods and services sold in New Zealand. Businesses are required to register for GST and collect it on behalf of IRD once their annual turnover exceeds $60,000.
When a business is GST registered, prices are either shown:
- Ex GST — the price before GST is added (GST is added at checkout or on the invoice)
- Inc GST — the total price including GST already added
Will GST Be Added to My Invoice in Future?
Once LanClub becomes GST registered, GST of 15% will be added to all invoices. This is standard practice for all NZ businesses and is a legal requirement.
When this happens:
- We will notify all clients at least 30 days in advance
- Your service agreement will be updated to reflect the change
- All prices will remain ex GST — meaning GST will be added on top of your current plan rate

Your base plan rate does not change — the increase reflects the GST component only, which is collected on behalf of IRD.
Can I Claim GST Back?
If you use LanClub services for business purposes and you are GST registered yourself, you may be able to claim the GST component back as an input tax credit. Speak to your accountant for advice specific to your situation.
For home users on personal plans, GST is generally not claimable.
