Installing the Browser Extension

The Bitwarden browser extension is the easiest way to use your LanClub password vault day to day. Once installed, it sits in your browser toolbar and automatically fills in your usernames and passwords when you visit websites — no typing required.

Is It Already Installed?

If you've completed your LanClub onboarding session, the Bitwarden extension has likely already been installed and configured on your computer. Look for the Bitwarden shield icon in your browser toolbar — it looks like this: 🛡️

If you can see it, skip to the Logging In section below. If you can't see it, follow the steps for your browser.

Installing the Extension

Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome and go to the Chrome Web Store
  2. Search for Bitwarden
  3. Click Add to Chrome
  4. Click Add extension when prompted
  5. The Bitwarden shield icon will appear in your toolbar

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Edge and go to the Edge Add-ons Store
  2. Search for Bitwarden
  3. Click Get
  4. Click Add extension when prompted
  5. The Bitwarden shield icon will appear in your toolbar

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Firefox and go to Firefox Add-ons
  2. Search for Bitwarden
  3. Click Add to Firefox
  4. Click Add when prompted
  5. The Bitwarden shield icon will appear in your toolbar

Safari (Mac)

  1. Open the App Store on your Mac
  2. Search for Bitwarden
  3. Click Get to install
  4. Open Safari → PreferencesExtensions
  5. Enable the Bitwarden extension

Pointing the Extension to Your LanClub Vault

This is an important step — by default the Bitwarden extension connects to Bitwarden's own servers. You need to point it to your private LanClub vault instead.

  1. Click the Bitwarden shield icon in your toolbar
  2. Click Settings (the gear icon)
  3. Under Server URL, click Self-hosted
  4. In the Server URL field enter: https://vault.lanclub.nz
  5. Click Save
  6. Log in with your LanClub vault email address and master password

If you're unsure of your login details, email help@lanclub.nz and we'll help you out.

Pinning the Extension to Your Toolbar

If the Bitwarden icon isn't visible in your toolbar, it may be hidden in the extensions menu. Here's how to pin it:

Chrome / Edge:

  1. Click the puzzle piece icon (🧩) in the top right of your browser
  2. Find Bitwarden in the list
  3. Click the pin icon next to it

Firefox:

  1. Right-click the Bitwarden icon in the extensions menu
  2. Select Pin to Toolbar

Setting Up Your PIN

To make logging in to your vault quicker and easier, you can set up a PIN instead of typing your full master password every time.

  1. Click the Bitwarden shield icon
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Under Security, enable Unlock with PIN
  4. Choose a PIN you'll remember — avoid obvious ones like 1234 or your birth year

Your PIN was configured during your onboarding session. If you'd like to change it, follow the steps above or email help@lanclub.nz for assistance.

Vault Timeout Settings

Your vault is set to lock automatically after a period of inactivity to keep your passwords secure. By default LanClub configures this to lock when your browser is closed or after a set idle time.

If you'd like to adjust your timeout settings, email help@lanclub.nz and we can update them for you.
